IX is a layer 2, IPv6-supporting, physical network switch operated by the Data Center to facilitate the exchange of Internet traffic between Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and content creators and providers. All colocation client's have the option to opt-in at additional cost associated with connection and may setup their own peering agreements with provider(s).
Below are some benefits of the IX:
Reduce Costs – Instead of managing and paying for many individual cross connections to desired peers and transit Internet fees, an Internet exchange allows companies to pay for one port – and immediately have access to all other members of the exchange point.
